<p> DIED. CHARLES MOORE, 68, architect; from a heart attack; in
Austin, Texas. Moore, whose habitually frenetic, transcontinental
work schedule amazed his peers, was among the fathers of Post-Modernism,
the jaunty pseudo-old-fashioned style that became ubiquitous
during the past decade. Among his influential works was the
Piazza d'Italia, a 1978 plaza in New Orleans that features neon
arches. Moore was scrupulous about designing buildings that
faithfully reflected their settings. Sea Ranch, for example,
a resort completed in the latter '60s, consists of plain, angular
wooden buildings that echo their Pacific cliffs site.
